Vision:
Within R.S.O.L. a work of art is appreciated for what the work wants and does autonomously, and not for how much money it could be sold for or because it can reach a large audience. Within R.S.O.L. the elusive social status that an artist receives is built on the substantive contribution that she, he or they has made with her, his or their work to the practice, and not on where her, his or their work was shown, by whom she, he or they was mentioned, and for how much money her, his or their work is traded. R.S.O.L. does not provide a system criticique, but simply works from a different system of values. Professionality is in R.S.O.L. not about 'earning a living', but about being a 'good' practitioner of contemporary art. Taking art back to art itself, and to its practitioners: first of all to the artists, but also to those who study and research art, love art and work in art. Art as an open, ongoing, non-linear process nourished and supported by the interrelations and (translocal and transhistorical) exchanges between practitioners in different places in the country and the world. R.S.O.L. is a place for working, discussing and playing, in the margin of society and of what is generaly regarded to be the artworld.

Declaration:
- R.S.O.L. seeks for works of art that exist not so much as things, but primarily as actions and events. Whereby materials and parts can be reused at other times, for other works. (Process-oriented, not product-oriented)
- R.S.O.L. does not see the artist as a brand that represents a capitalist value and an associated social status, but as a practitioner of a collective practice that is formed by a circle of practitioners past and present, who respond to values and aims that are intrinsic to this practice and who advance these by practising the practice. (Practice-oriented, not status-oriented)
- R.S.O.L. sees the practice of contemporary art as a practice that is aimed at acquiring knowledge of, and insights into, 'the world' and 'being in the world', and that thus does not serve to decorate, entertain, propagate or memorise. (Knowledge-oriented, not application-oriented)
