the work: Untitled Events
This work consists of three events that I asked Marleen van der Weerd to perform at locations in Enschedé.
Through small events, I wanted to break the supposed safety of everyday normality: Someone who gets sick at the supermarket; Someone in a panic who tries to catch the bus that is just leaving; A quarrel in the shopping street.
We believe ourselves to be at home in the world around us. Everything goes its way. Everything is alright. But reality is different: this world is strange to us, nothing is certain, and public order is a thin layer of culture that crumbles more easily than we care for.
Homo homini lupus est.
